In a powerful celebration of courage, leadership, and national pride, Good Day Defence School proudly saluted its esteemed Mentor, Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav, on his distinguished presence at the 77th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi.
The Republic Day Parade, one of India’s most iconic national events, symbolises the strength, unity, and democratic spirit of the nation. This year’s celebrations held special significance for the Good Day Defence School community, as their mentor — a living embodiment of valour and sacrifice — was honoured among the country’s most revered heroes.
A Mentor Who Leads by Example
Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav, India’s youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, serves as a guiding force and mentor at Good Day Defence School, where his life story, values, and leadership philosophy deeply influence the institution’s vision and training approach.
As a mentor, Captain Yadav actively inspires students to pursue excellence with discipline, courage, and integrity — qualities that define both military service and responsible citizenship. His association with the school goes beyond ceremonial recognition, serving as a constant reminder that true leadership is forged through resilience, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to the nation.
“Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav is not only a national hero, but a mentor who shapes the character and aspirations of our students. His presence motivates young minds to dream bigger, work harder, and place service above self,” said representatives of Good Day Defence School.
A Legacy of Unmatched Bravery
Born on 10 May 1980 in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav joined the Indian Army at a young age and was commissioned into the elite 18 Grenadiers. During the Kargil War of 1999, at just 19 years old, he displayed extraordinary courage during the assault on Tiger Hill, one of the most challenging and strategically vital operations of the conflict.
Despite sustaining multiple gunshot injuries, he continued to lead from the front, successfully neutralising enemy positions and enabling his unit to secure the objective. His fearless actions under extreme conditions earned him the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military decoration for gallantry in the face of the enemy.
Following his active service, Captain Yadav was later conferred the honorary rank of Captain, recognising his enduring contribution to the Indian Armed Forces and the nation.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Defence Leaders
At Good Day Defence School, Captain Yadav’s mentorship plays a crucial role in shaping students who aspire to join the Armed Forces, paramilitary services, and other leadership roles. His real-life experiences provide invaluable lessons in decision-making under pressure, teamwork, discipline, and mental toughness — skills essential for future officers and responsible leaders.
Students of the school marked his participation in the Republic Day Parade with deep pride and admiration. Many described him as a source of daily inspiration whose journey reinforces the belief that determination and courage can overcome the toughest challenges.
Cadets undergoing defence-oriented training at the school draw motivation from Captain Yadav’s example, viewing his life as proof that age, background, or adversity can never limit one’s potential to serve the nation with distinction.
Republic Day Parade: Honouring India’s Finest
The Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path remains a national platform where India honours its gallantry awardees, veterans, and serving personnel. Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav’s presence among the nation’s heroes reinforced the enduring respect and gratitude the country holds for its defenders.
For Good Day Defence School, the moment symbolised the alignment of its educational mission with the highest ideals of patriotism and service. The school continues to emphasise that mentorship by real heroes is essential in nurturing disciplined, value-driven leaders for the future.
