Amaravati : In a landmark development for India’s deep-tech education ecosystem, the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), an autonomous scientific society under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to establish India’s first dedicated Quantum and Artificial Intelligence (AI) University campus in Amaravati.
The MoU was formalized during the AI Impact Summit in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan, NIELIT Director General M. M. Tripathi, and Mission Director, APSQM – Amaravati Quantum Valley, Sridhar CV.
This strategic collaboration aims to position Amaravati as a national hub for advanced research and education in quantum technologies and artificial intelligence, reinforcing India’s global ambitions in frontier technologies.
India’s First Dedicated Quantum & AI University Campus
The proposed campus in Amaravati will function under NIELIT’s Deemed-to-be University framework, making it the first institution in India exclusively dedicated to Quantum Technologies and Artificial Intelligence.
With 12 approved campuses nationwide, NIELIT has been at the forefront of advancing education, skilling, research, and capacity building in emerging technologies. The Amaravati campus marks a significant expansion focused entirely on deep-tech domains such as:
- Quantum Computing and Quantum Algorithms
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Quantum Communication and Cybersecurity
- Quantum Hardware and Systems Engineering
- High-Performance Computing
- AI–Quantum Convergence Research
