HDFC ERGO General Insurance has appointed Parthanil Ghosh as its managing director and chief executive officer (MD and CEO), with the appointment set to take effect on April 16, subject to regulatory approvals. The decision was approved by the company’s board.
Ghosh will succeed Anuj Tyagi, who currently serves as the insurer’s MD and CEO. Tyagi had submitted his resignation on January 16, 2026, stating that he plans to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities.
Leadership Transition at the Insurer
The leadership change comes as the company looks to continue its growth in India’s competitive general insurance sector. Ghosh has been associated with the organisation for several years and has played a key role in its operations.
He joined the company in 2016 after the merger with L&T General Insurance. Since then, he has held multiple leadership responsibilities. He was appointed executive director on May 1, 2025.
With more than three decades of professional experience in financial services and insurance, Ghosh brings extensive industry expertise to the role. His experience includes more than 16 years working across the entire value chain of the general insurance industry.
