Drone logistics startup Skye Air Mobility has raised $9 million in a Series B funding round led by IAN Alpha Fund, marking a significant step in the company’s efforts to scale its drone-based delivery network across India.

The funding round also saw participation from existing investors and strategic backers who continue to support the company’s vision of transforming last-mile logistics through drone technology. The newly raised capital will primarily be used to expand Skye Air’s drone delivery infrastructure, enhance its technology platform, and strengthen operational capabilities in key markets.

    Expanding Drone Delivery Infrastructure

Skye Air Mobility plans to deploy the fresh funds to increase the size of its drone fleet and expand drone delivery corridors in multiple cities across the country. The company is focused on building a scalable and reliable logistics ecosystem that can deliver essential goods, medicines, and e-commerce packages quickly and efficiently.

Drone delivery has gained traction globally as companies explore faster and more cost-effective alternatives to traditional transportation methods. For India, where urban congestion and complex logistics networks can slow deliveries, drone technology is increasingly being viewed as a promising solution.

Skye Air has been actively working on building a beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drone network, allowing drones to operate over longer distances without direct visual monitoring by operators. This capability can significantly improve the efficiency of logistics services, particularly in urban and semi-urban regions.

    Strengthening Technology and Operations

With the latest funding, the company also aims to invest in research and development to improve drone safety, navigation systems, and automation. Advanced route planning and real-time monitoring systems will help ensure reliable deliveries while maintaining regulatory compliance.

The startup is also expected to expand its partnerships with e-commerce platforms, healthcare providers, and logistics companies, enabling a broader range of use cases for drone-based deliveries.

According to industry experts, the growth of drone logistics could play a key role in improving supply chain efficiency, reducing delivery times, and lowering operational costs for businesses.

Growing Investor Interest in Drone Logistics

The investment by IAN Alpha Fund highlights the growing interest among venture capital firms in deep tech and mobility innovations, including autonomous delivery systems. Investors believe drone logistics has the potential to transform last-mile delivery, especially in densely populated countries like India.

With increasing regulatory clarity and government support for drone technology, startups operating in this space are witnessing renewed funding momentum.

    Future Outlook

Skye Air Mobility’s latest funding round comes at a time when India’s drone ecosystem is rapidly evolving. The government has introduced several initiatives aimed at encouraging drone innovation, manufacturing, and commercial deployment.

By expanding its delivery network and technology capabilities, Skye Air aims to position itself as a leading drone logistics platform in the country.

As the company continues to scale its operations, drone deliveries could soon become a mainstream part of India’s logistics landscape, enabling faster and more efficient movement of goods across cities and remote areas alike.
