SBI Funds Management, the asset management company behind SBI Mutual Fund, is preparing to launch one of India’s biggest initial public offerings (IPOs) of 2026. The IPO has already attracted significant attention from investors due to the company’s dominant position in the mutual fund industry and its strong financial performance.
The SBI Funds Management IPO is set to open for public bidding on July 14, 2026 and will close on July 16, 2026, while the shares are expected to list on the BSE and NSE on July 21, subject to the final schedule.
The IPO is a book-built offer for sale (OFS). Unlike a fresh issue, the company will not raise new capital through this offering. Instead, existing shareholders like State Bank of India (SBI) and Amundi India Holding will sell a portion of their stake. The IPO has a price band of ₹545 to ₹574 per share.
SBI Funds Management is India’s largest asset management company by assets under management (AUM), with a market share of 15.3% in mutual funds and 29.6% in ETFs and index funds as of March 2026.
Ahead of the IPO, SBI sold a 1.42% stake in the company through a pre-IPO placement at ₹574 per share, the upper end of the price band. The transaction raised nearly ₹1,655 crore and drew participation from around 30 institutional investors, reflecting strong demand before the public issue opens.
Investors investing in IPO
Several factors make the IPO attractive to investors. SBI Funds Management leverages the trusted SBI brand and one of the country’s largest distribution networks, including SBI branches, financial advisors, distributors, and digital platforms.
Moreover, investors continue to increase their investments through systematic investment plans (SIPs), while rising retail participation in equity markets continues to drive the long-term growth of India’s asset management industry.
Overall, SBI Funds Management’s IPO gives investors an opportunity to invest in India’s largest mutual fund manager. The company strengthens its investment case through its market leadership, diversified product portfolio, and extensive distribution network.
However, experts advise investors to assess the valuation and evaluate potential risks before making an investment decision. The IPO is expected to remain one of the most closely watched public issues in India’s capital markets this year.
