Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals has unveiled a new brand identity as it looks to move beyond its traditional association with fans and pumps. The repositioning follows an 18-month consumer study involving more than 18,000 consumers and over 30 million data points.
The company has introduced a new master-brand identity, Cephyr, along with the tagline “Amazing, Every Day” and a new sonic identity. Crompton will gradually bring the new identity to its products, packaging, retail stores, digital platforms, and consumer communication.
The move aims to position Crompton as a broader home-solutions brand. The company wants consumers to look beyond individual product categories and connect its wider portfolio with the Crompton name.
Crompton Uses Consumer Research to Drive Brand Repositioning
Crompton conducted an 18-month study to understand how consumers view the brand today.
The research covered more than 18,000 consumers and generated over 30 million data points. It included consumer interactions, home visits, and other research methods.
The findings did not suggest that Crompton had lost relevance. Instead, the company identified a gap between its expanding product portfolio and consumer perception.
Fans and pumps remain important to the brand. However, Crompton now wants consumers to recognise its presence across a wider range of products.
Crompton Introduces “Amazing, Every Day” as New Brand Promise
The new identity forms the centre of Crompton’s repositioning strategy.
The company has introduced Cephyr as its new master-brand emblem. It has also launched the tagline “Amazing, Every Day” and created a sonic identity.
Crompton will introduce these assets in phases. The first stage focuses on establishing the new visual and sonic elements.
Later, the new brand language will be applied to category-level campaigns. Crompton also plans to bring the identity into future product and packaging development.
This approach makes the exercise larger than a conventional advertising campaign. Crompton sees the repositioning as a long-term change in its brand architecture.
The company expects the new direction to continue for years rather than months.
Crompton Wants to Become a Broader Home-Solutions Brand
Crompton’s larger goal is to connect its different product businesses under one master brand.
The company has traditionally benefited from strong recognition among fans and pumps. Its portfolio, however, extends across several consumer electrical categories.
The repositioning aims to change the conversation from individual products to everyday home solutions.
Crompton also sees an opportunity to increase cross-selling and upselling across categories. A stronger master brand could help the company introduce consumers to more products and solutions over time.
The strategy also supports three broader priorities identified by the company: smart and connected products, a unified home-solutions proposition, and a more consumer-centric organisation.
Crompton Restructures Its Brand Architecture
The company is also working on a clearer structure for its sub-brands and model names.
Crompton has introduced Crompton Rhion as a super-premium brand. It is also strengthening Energion as a platform focused on the broader energy ecosystem.
The company plans to organise its sub-brands and product names into clearer tiers. This structure should help consumers understand the role of different products within Crompton’s wider portfolio.
The move comes as Crompton continues to expand its product and solution offerings.
Crompton Keeps Brand Spending at 3–3.5% of Revenue
Crompton’s brand and marketing spending currently stands at around 3% to 3.5% of revenue.
The company has not disclosed a separate investment figure for the latest brand campaign. However, its overall media spending has already increased significantly over the last two to three years.
Crompton sees brand building as more than media expenditure. Product development, consumer engagement, and brand communication also form part of the investment.
The company therefore views the latest repositioning as an extension of its broader brand-building efforts rather than the start of a new spending cycle.
Print, Outdoor, TV, and Digital Will Support the New Identity
Crompton’s media strategy will support different parts of the new identity.
Print and outdoor media will help establish the new visual system. Digital and television will carry the sonic identity and content-led communication.
The company will eventually extend the new identity to its products and packaging as well.
This phased approach will allow Crompton to build recognition for the new identity while continuing its category-level communication.

Crompton Uses AI to Scale Marketing Content
AI has also become part of Crompton’s recent marketing strategy.
The company uses AI for always-on digital content, influencer activity, and contextual campaigns. Crompton sees the technology as an enabler that can help teams produce creative content faster and at scale.
During the IPL, for example, Crompton used AI-led content to create a series of product-focused micro-dramas. The campaign generated millions of views across six or seven episodes.
The company does not treat AI as a separate marketing budget. Instead, it uses the technology to improve the speed and efficiency of its creative efforts.
Crompton Already Reaches More Than 10 Crore Households
Crompton’s challenge is not basic brand awareness.
The company says its products already reach more than 10 crore households. The focus now is on expanding what consumers associate with the Crompton name.
The repositioning aims to turn existing awareness into consideration across more product categories.
For Crompton, that means moving from a brand known for specific products to one that consumers consider when looking for different solutions for their homes.

Crompton Bets on Long-Term Brand Transformation
The new identity marks a significant shift in how Crompton wants to present itself to consumers.
The company is not moving away from the trust built through its existing categories. Instead, it wants to use that trust to create a broader brand proposition.
The next phase will focus on taking the new identity into category campaigns, products, and packaging.
Crompton will now have to demonstrate whether its new positioning can change consumer perception and encourage purchases across multiple categories.
With “Amazing, Every Day” at the centre of the new identity, the company is betting on a broader role in Indian homes. The success of the repositioning will depend on whether consumers begin to see Crompton as more than a fans and pumps brand.
