Mahindra Group has appointed former Cummins India Managing Director Shveta Arya as its Group Chief Strategy Officer, with the appointment set to take effect from September 15, 2026. Arya will also join the senior management of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and become part of the Group Executive Board.
In her new role, Arya will head the Group Strategy Office, working across Mahindra’s diverse portfolio to identify new growth opportunities, unlock value and build long-term strategic advantages. She will report directly to Anish Shah, Group CEO and Managing Director of Mahindra Group.
Shveta Arya Brings Over Two Decades Of Experience
Arya joins Mahindra Group after a career spanning more than 23 years across multinational organisations and management consulting. Her professional experience covers sectors including automotive, travel, financial services and telecom.
Before joining Mahindra, Arya served as Managing Director of Cummins India, where she was responsible for driving business growth, customer success, talent development and workplace culture. Her leadership at Cummins adds significant operational and business management experience to her new strategy-focused role.
Before Cummins India, Arya led Strategy and M&A at Thomas Cook India and held several roles at management consultancy Kearney and Infosys. She holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Information Technology from Delhi University.

Focus On Growth and Long-Term Value Creation
Welcoming the appointment, Anish Shah highlighted Arya’s experience across business strategy, growth and organisational change. Her experience is expected to support Mahindra Group as it continues to expand and strengthen its portfolio of businesses.
With Mahindra operating across sectors including automotive, farm equipment, technology, financial services and other emerging businesses, Arya’s mandate will involve working across the portfolio to identify opportunities for growth and value creation.

The appointment comes as Mahindra Group continues to focus on building businesses with long-term growth potential. Arya’s combination of strategy, consulting and operational leadership experience is expected to bring a broad perspective to the Group’s strategic planning.
She has also been involved in initiatives around diversity, inclusion and women’s empowerment during her career.
