Hanumangarh, Rajasthan | February 2026: The ongoing Krishi Mela 2026 at Shri Khushal Das University has emerged as one of North India’s largest agricultural congregations, drawing a historic footfall of over 3 lakh farmers, scientists, agri-entrepreneurs, and students. The three-day mega event has positioned Hanumangarh as a fast-growing nucleus of agricultural innovation, knowledge exchange, and grassroots transformation.

Adding national significance to the event, Hon’ble Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, extended his appreciation and congratulations to the university leadership for successfully organizing such a massive farmers’ gathering. His acknowledgment underscores the growing importance of institutional-led agricultural outreach in strengthening India’s rural economy.

The appreciation shared during the event has also been highlighted by the university leadership in a public note, which can be accessed here:

    3 Lakh+ Footfall: A Historic Gathering of India’s Annadatas

With participation crossing the 3 lakh mark, Krishi Mela 2026 is being described as a landmark agricultural congregation in Rajasthan. Farmers from across districts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and neighboring states are attending the event to explore modern farming techniques, crop diversification models, organic practices, and government-supported agri schemes.

The massive turnout reflects growing awareness among India’s Annadatas about the need to adopt scientific, technology-driven, and market-aligned agricultural practices.

Experts believe such large-scale farmer engagement platforms play a crucial role in achieving the national goal of increasing farmer income and strengthening rural livelihoods.

Bridging the Gap: From Lab Research to Field Reality

One of the core objectives of the Krishi Mela is knowledge exchange—bringing together agricultural scientists, researchers, policy experts, and progressive farmers on a single platform.

    The event features:

    • Live demonstrations of modern irrigation systems
    • Exhibitions of high-yield seed varieties
    • Soil health awareness sessions
    • Climate-resilient farming discussions
    • Precision farming tools and digital agriculture solutions

By translating lab research into practical, field-ready solutions, the university is ensuring that innovation does not remain confined to research papers but reaches the farms where it matters most.

Empowering Farmers Through Agri-Tech & Innovation

Krishi Mela 2026 strongly aligns with the national vision of “Farmers First” and technology-led agricultural transformation. Multiple agri-tech startups, farm machinery manufacturers, and input solution providers are showcasing tools designed to:

    • Improve crop productivity
    • Reduce input costs
    • Enhance water efficiency
    • Support sustainable farming
    • Boost farm-to-market connectivity

The emphasis remains on empowering farmers with actionable knowledge and scalable solutions that contribute to the larger objective of doubling farmer income.

The event also provides a platform for students and young agri-entrepreneurs to interact directly with farming communities, encouraging innovation that is rooted in real-world agricultural challenges.

National Recognition Boosts Regional Agri Leadership

The appreciation from Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has added further credibility to the initiative. His recognition highlights the role educational institutions can play in strengthening India’s agricultural backbone through:

    • Farmer outreach programs
    • Skill development initiatives
    • Rural innovation ecosystems
    • Large-scale grassroots engagement

Speaking on the occasion, university leadership expressed deep gratitude for the Minister’s encouraging words, reaffirming their commitment to revolutionizing agriculture through education, research, and direct farmer participation.

Hanumangarh Emerging as an Agricultural Innovation Hub

With the scale and impact of the ongoing Krishi Mela, Hanumangarh is steadily emerging as a regional hub for agricultural excellence. The district, already known for its fertile land and irrigation networks, is now gaining attention for hosting one of the most impactful farmer-centric events in the region.

The convergence of policymakers, academicians, farmers, and industry leaders is creating a collaborative ecosystem that goes beyond a traditional exhibition format. Instead, it represents a movement toward sustainable, technology-driven, and inclusive agricultural growth.

A Step Toward Transforming Indian Agriculture

As Krishi Mela 2026 continues at Shri Khushal Das University, the atmosphere on campus reflects energy, optimism, and purpose. The unprecedented participation and national-level appreciation reinforce the belief that large-scale knowledge platforms are vital to India’s agricultural future.

With a clear focus on innovation, farmer empowerment, and grassroots engagement, the university reiterates its steadfast commitment to transforming agriculture—one farmer, one idea, and one innovation at a time.
