YouTube has partnered with Balaji Telefilms to launch five exclusive premium original shows. The slate will include 200 episodes. All shows will stream globally in 4K resolution.

According to The Times of India, the partnership marks a major digital-first step for the Ekta Kapoor-led production company. Balaji Telefilms will create the shows, while YouTube will offer global distribution and monetisation opportunities.

    Key Points

    • YouTube and Balaji Telefilms will launch five premium original shows.
    • The slate will include 200 episodes.
    • The shows will stream globally in 4K resolution.
    • Ekta Kapoor will lead the creative vision.
    • Balaji Telefilms will retain ownership of the intellectual property.
    • YouTube will support the shows through ads and brand partnerships.

YouTube and Balaji Telefilms Announce New Original Shows

The upcoming YouTube original shows will include Haq Se Season 2, Phir Pyar Ki Yeh Kahani Suno and Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai Season 4. The companies are also developing other projects under the partnership.

Moreover, the shows will target viewers who prefer on-demand entertainment. They will deliver long-form storytelling in a digital-first format.

Balaji Telefilms will make the content available worldwide. As a result, the company can reach Indian viewers as well as audiences in other markets.

Balaji Telefilms Will Retain Intellectual Property Rights

The YouTube-Balaji Telefilms partnership will allow Balaji to retain its intellectual property rights. Therefore, the company will continue to control its stories, characters and franchises.

At the same time, YouTube will create monetisation opportunities through advertising and brand collaborations. This model can help Balaji reach viewers directly while building new revenue streams.

Ekta Kapoor, Joint Managing Director of Balaji Telefilms, said the collaboration will help the company share stories with audiences around the world.

Connected TV Growth Supports YouTube’s Premium Content Push

The partnership comes as more Indian households watch online content on television screens. YouTube reached more than 75 million people aged 18 and above in India through connected TV in April 2025, according to the companies.

Meanwhile, YouTube India continues to expand its premium entertainment offering. Gunjan Soni, Managing Director of YouTube India, said viewers want quality shows on large screens with the flexibility of on-demand viewing.

Overall, the Balaji Telefilms YouTube deal signals a growing role for ad-supported digital platforms in India’s entertainment industry.
