Adani Power Limited (APL) has received a score of 66 in the latest NSE Sustainability ESG assessment, improving from its FY26 score of 65. The company retained its position in the “Aspiring” category and said it ranked above major Indian thermal, mixed-fuel and integrated energy companies.
The Ahmedabad-based company said the improved score reflects its focus on environmental, social and governance practices, along with responsible business growth. NSE Sustainability conducted the assessment as part of its annual review of listed companies in India.
NSE Sustainability, a SEBI-registered ESG rating provider and a subsidiary of NSE Indices, evaluates 500 listed companies in India. Its ratings offer investors and stakeholders an independent view of a company’s ESG credentials and long-term value-creation potential.
Adani Power ESG Score Improves to 66
The latest Adani Power ESG rating highlights the company’s initiatives across emissions management, energy efficiency, water conservation and waste disposal.
APL said it has deployed advanced low-emission technologies, including ultra-supercritical units, to reduce its carbon footprint. The company has also invested in continuous monitoring and corrective systems across its operations.
The power producer said these measures support its effort to improve operational efficiency while managing environmental impact.
Adani Power Focuses on Community Development and Governance
On the social front, Adani Power said it has expanded community development programmes focused on education, healthcare and skill-building.
Its initiatives include scholarships for underprivileged students, health camps and livelihood enhancement projects. The company said these programmes aim to support inclusive growth in communities around its operations.
APL also highlighted its governance framework. It said the representation of independent directors on its Nomination and Remuneration Committee, Audit Committee and Risk Management Committee exceeds the required compliance thresholds.
The company has also adopted ESG standards for suppliers and contractors to encourage responsible practices across its value chain.

Other ESG Ratings Strengthen Adani Power’s Sustainability Profile
Adani Power said it has also received strong scores from other independent ESG assessment agencies.
The company received 71 out of 100 in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment by S&P Global. It also secured a 4.3 out of 5.0 rating from FTSE Russell ESG.
For FY26, CareEdge ESG Ratings gave APL a score of 80 out of 100 and placed it in the “Leadership” position. The company said this score was 35% above the industry median.
Adani Power is India’s largest private-sector thermal power producer. It has an installed thermal power capacity of 18,290 MW across 13 power plants in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. The company also operates a 40 MW solar power plant in Gujarat.
