Flipkart has entered India’s growing microdrama market by launching short-form entertainment content on its mobile app. The Walmart-owned e-commerce company has added a Play tab that lets users watch creator content and short drama series alongside their shopping activity, as reported by Entrackr.
The move expands Flipkart’s app beyond online shopping and adds a new route for user engagement. It may also create opportunities for advertising, brand integrations, and product placements through short-form stories.
Flipkart Launches Microdrama Content on Its Mobile App
Flipkart has added a Play icon to its bottom navigation bar. The new section includes Explore for creator-led content and Drama for short-form fictional series.
Users can open the Drama section through the Play tab. They can watch stories designed for brief breaks during the day. The content spans drama, action, and comedy genres.
The section currently features titles such as CEO Se Romeo, Contract Marriage, Boss Bahu, Ek Ladki Do Insaan, Elayichi, L, KHEER, Mr Aditi, Nakli Pati Asli Crorepati and Ishq Ibadat.
The new Flipkart microdrama offering also includes performances from actors such as Anupam Kher, Rasika Dugal and Mandira Bedi.
Flipkart Partners With TTT and Pratilipi for Short-Form Stories
Moneycontrol first reported that Flipkart has partnered with Terribly Tiny Tales, also known as TTT, and Pratilipi, among others, to produce content for the offering.
The report also said Flipkart would feature content from Pinkvilla, the entertainment platform it acquired in 2025. These partnerships can help Flipkart build a content catalogue while giving entertainment publishers a new distribution channel.
Flipkart has not launched a separate streaming service. Instead, it has added short-form video content to its main shopping app. This approach can encourage users to spend more time on the platform.
India’s Microdrama Market Attracts More Platforms
Flipkart joins a growing list of companies that are investing in short-form drama content in India. Kuku Technologies’ Kuku TV, ShareChat’s Quick TV, EloElo’s StoryTV and EloTV already operate in the segment.
Large entertainment companies have also entered the market. Yash Raj Films and Sun TV Network have announced plans to create microdramas. However, Pocket FM exited its microdrama vertical, Pocket TV, earlier.
The format offers quick, episodic stories for mobile viewing. Its mobile-first format has attracted platforms that want to engage users during commutes, short breaks, and other everyday moments.

How Microdramas Could Boost Flipkart App Engagement
For Flipkart, the launch adds an entertainment layer to its e-commerce app. It can help the company increase app engagement and create space for branded storytelling.
Moneycontrol reported that Flipkart may explore brand integrations and product placements through the format. This could help brands reach consumers through entertainment content instead of traditional display advertisements.
Flipkart’s entry shows how consumer internet platforms are moving beyond transactions and shopping offers. They are building more reasons for users to return to their apps each day.
