Global e-commerce giant Amazon has been ranked the most trusted brand in India in 2026, according to the latest Brand Trust Report released by TRA Research. The company climbed eleven positions from last year to take the top spot, ending the long-standing dominance of Dell, which had held the number one rank for six consecutive years.

The report, which studies consumer trust across industries, evaluates more than one thousand brands operating in India. It measures how consumers perceive reliability, quality, and overall brand credibility.

Amazon’s rise to the top highlights how digital commerce and technology-driven services are becoming central to the lives of Indian consumers.

Amazon’s Big Jump in the Rankings

One of the most notable highlights of this year’s report is Amazon’s dramatic climb in the rankings. The company moved from twelfth place in 2025 to first place in 2026, a significant leap that reflects the growing trust consumers place in its services.

Industry analysts attribute this rise to Amazon’s continued focus on improving customer experience, expanding delivery networks, and strengthening its online marketplace.

Over the years, Amazon has built a strong reputation in India through services such as quick deliveries, easy returns, and a wide range of product categories. The platform offers everything from electronics and fashion to groceries and home appliances, making it a one-stop destination for millions of Indian shoppers.

Another factor behind Amazon’s growth has been its ability to adapt to changing consumer behaviour. As more Indians shop online and rely on digital platforms, companies that provide reliable and seamless experiences have gained greater trust.

    Dell Slips to Second Position

While Amazon climbed to the top, technology company Dell slipped to the second position after holding the number one rank for six years in a row.

Dell has long been recognised as a trusted brand in India due to its strong presence in the laptop and computer market. However, the latest report suggests that consumer trust is evolving rapidly as digital platforms expand their influence.

Despite dropping one place, Dell continues to remain one of the most respected technology brands in the country.

Other Brands in the Top Five

Along with Amazon and Dell, several well-known brands secured spots in the top five of the report.

Motorcycle manufacturer Honda climbed to the third position, reflecting strong consumer confidence in the brand’s reliability and performance.

Electronics company LG secured the fourth spot, while watchmaker Titan ranked fifth on the list.

The rest of the top ten includes popular consumer brands such as Sony televisions, LG refrigerators, LG washing machines, smartphone brand Vivo, and e-commerce platform Flipkart.

These rankings highlight how consumer electronics, technology, and digital platforms dominate the trust landscape in India.

Major Shifts Across the Brand Rankings

The report also revealed several major changes across the rankings, with many brands gaining or losing positions.

For instance, the Apple iPhone experienced a notable drop in the rankings. The smartphone brand fell from second place in the previous year to the sixteenth position in 2026.

Similarly, companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Maruti Suzuki also saw declines in their rankings this year.

At the same time, several brands improved their positions significantly. Household appliance brand Whirlpool and consumer electronics company boAt were among the notable gainers.

According to experts, these fluctuations show how dynamic consumer trust can be. Brands that continuously improve their products, communication, and customer service are more likely to gain consumer confidence.

    Why Consumer Trust Is Changing

Experts from TRA Research believe that consumer expectations are evolving rapidly in today’s digital environment.

According to the organisation, trust is no longer built solely through product quality. Instead, it depends on several factors, including customer experience, transparency, brand communication, and digital engagement.

Companies that successfully combine innovation with reliability tend to perform better in trust rankings.

The increasing influence of technology has also played a role. Categories such as smartphones, electronics, and home appliances dominate the list because consumers rely heavily on these products in everyday life.

Trust in the Age of Digital Platforms

The report also highlighted how digital platforms and artificial intelligence-driven services are reshaping the concept of brand trust.

As businesses introduce new technologies, consumers expect brands to remain transparent and responsible while adopting innovation.

Experts say companies that balance technological progress with genuine customer care are more likely to build long-term trust.

Amazon’s rise to the top reflects this shift. By combining advanced logistics, digital infrastructure, and customer-focused services, the company has managed to strengthen its reputation in one of the world’s fastest-growing consumer markets.

What This Means for the Indian Market

Amazon’s position as the most trusted brand in India signals a broader change in consumer behaviour.

Digital commerce is no longer just about convenience. For many consumers, it has become an essential part of everyday life.

As competition intensifies among brands, trust will continue to play a crucial role in determining which companies succeed. Businesses that focus on transparency, reliability, and customer satisfaction are likely to remain ahead in the evolving marketplace.

With millions of Indian consumers increasingly relying on online platforms, the race for trust among global and domestic brands is expected to become even more competitive in the years ahead.
