Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, has contributed ₹11 crore to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The contribution will support relief and rehabilitation efforts in flood-affected parts of the state. As a result, authorities now have additional resources to assist families across Upper Assam affected by the floods.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said the support would strengthen the state’s relief efforts. Moreover, he noted it would help thousands of affected families rebuild their lives.

Adani Foundation Reaches Nearly 8,000 Families

Building on this contribution, the Adani Foundation has launched a flood relief programme across Upper Assam. The Foundation is the social welfare and development arm of the Adani Group. In addition, Adani Smart Meter and Guwahati International Airport Limited (GIAL) are supporting the initiative. GIAL is a subsidiary of Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), India’s largest private airport operator.

As part of this effort, relief kits are reaching nearly 8,000 families. These families live in the Nazira sub-division of Sivasagar district and in Silapathar in Dhemaji district. Each kit carries essential food items, medicines, and sanitation and hygiene supplies. Consequently, affected families can meet their immediate needs as they begin rebuilding their lives.

Relief Effort Spans 14 Villages in Nazira

The relief effort covers 14 villages in the Nazira Sub-Division. These include Gurmur Miri (Nepali Basti), Santak Grant, Baligaon, Rojapool Duwarah Gaon, Bamunpukhuri, and Gohain Gaon (Komol Sapori). Other villages are Hulang Katoni, Hulang Kalita, Bengmora Konwar Gaon, Bailung Gaon, Miri Gaon, Ougurijan, and Bihubor Grant.

The programme also extends to flood-affected areas of Silapathar in Dhemaji district. Furthermore, teams are working to ensure that relief reaches even the most remote and difficult-to-access villages, according to the Adani Foundation.

    Essential Supplies Reach Remote Villages

Officials involved in the relief effort said essential food, medicines, and sanitation and hygiene supplies are reaching families. This includes families in remote and hard-to-reach villages in Sivasagar and Dhemaji districts. Meanwhile, relief teams are carrying out the distribution as part of the broader flood relief programme led by the Adani Foundation.

Adani Smart Meter and GIAL are working alongside the Foundation in this effort. Together, they are directing resources toward two goals. First, they are meeting immediate humanitarian needs. Second, they are providing logistical support to reach affected communities.

Foundation Focuses on Recovery Beyond Immediate Relief

For the Adani Foundation, relief marks only the first step in a longer recovery process. As families across Assam begin rebuilding their lives, the foundation remains committed to supporting their recovery. In turn, it aims to help communities emerge stronger and more resilient.

The flood relief programme in Upper Assam continues to operate across the identified villages in Sivasagar and Dhemaji districts. So far, the Foundation has distributed relief kits to nearly 8,000 families as part of this ongoing effort.

    Conclusion

Overall, the combined support from Gautam Adani’s ₹11 crore contribution and the Adani Foundation’s on-ground relief programme reflects a coordinated response to the Assam floods. With essential supplies reaching thousands of families across Sivasagar and Dhemaji districts, and with continued backing from Adani Smart Meter and GIAL, the initiative aims to ease immediate hardship while laying the groundwork for long-term recovery in the affected communities.
